Cincinnati's athletics department is experiencing significant financial growth, achieving a record $118.5 million in revenue for the June 2024 to June 2025 operating period. This represents a substantial 23% increase over the previous year, with expenses rising by 13% to $119.3 million, resulting in a manageable $800,000 deficit.
This impressive revenue jump was bolstered by a $13 million allocation from the university itself. Additionally, fundraising efforts contributed positively, with revenue in the contributions category rising by $4.7 million. University officials highlighted athletics' role as the institution's premier marketing arm.
As Cincinnati continues its tenure in the Big 12 conference, the athletics department anticipates receiving its full $36 million conference revenue share for the June 2025-26 fiscal year. A notable portion of this forthcoming revenue is earmarked for supporting student-athletes through NIL opportunities.
