Haliburton, a native of Oshkosh, Wisconsin, grew up a Brewers fan. The Milwaukee Brewers had initially offered him the opportunity to throw a first pitch before the 2024 NBA playoffs. However, this offer was reportedly withdrawn after the Pacers eliminated the Bucks in the first round of the playoffs.
Following the Brewers' decision, Haliburton put his fandom up for bid, hoping for another chance. He caught the attention of both the Chicago Cubs and the Los Angeles Dodgers in October 2025 while recovering from an Achilles tear. Both teams offered him the chance to throw a first pitch during their games against the Brewers this season. Haliburton ultimately chose to throw for the Cubs, stating it "just made more sense."
