27 Apr
Summary
- Ntorq 150 receives FMSCI homologation for racing.
- TVS expands motorsport focus beyond Apache motorcycles.
- Race-spec Ntorq 150 expected with performance enhancements.

TVS Motor Company is enhancing its presence in Indian motorsport, with the Ntorq 150 scooter now officially homologated by the Federation of Motor Sports Clubs of India (FMSCI). This approval greenlights the sporty scooter for participation in official racing events across the nation, underscoring TVS's strategic focus on performance vehicles beyond its well-known Apache motorcycle range.
The homologated Ntorq 150, based on the standard model, is set to pave the way for a race-specific version. Following TVS's motorsport tradition, this will likely involve significant weight reduction and the exclusion of non-essential components to maximize agility and track performance. The current production model weighs approximately 115kg, providing a solid foundation for competitive modifications.
Powered by a 149.7cc, three-valve engine paired with a CVT, the Ntorq 150 delivers 13 bhp and 14.2 Nm of torque. It boasts an acceleration of 0-60 kmph in 6.3 seconds and a top speed of 104 kmph. This engine is an evolved version of the Ntorq 125's motor, featuring an increased bore, longer stroke, and lighter internals for enhanced performance.
TVS has already showcased scooter racing potential with the Ntorq 125 in events like the Indian National Rally Championship. The Ntorq 150's homologation builds on this experience, indicating a more structured commitment to scooter-based motorsport. While scooter racing is a niche segment, this development could broaden its appeal and offer an accessible entry point for aspiring racers, reflecting TVS's enduring dedication to motorsport development.
