Rodman flew more than 5,000 miles to see Shelton, who is currently competing in the Boss Open. Her arrival followed her participation with the U.S. Women's National Team in a friendly against Brazil, which America won 1-0. Rodman had entered the match as a second-half substitute.
Shelton was engaged in his own tournament battles, facing Marcos Giron in a match that spanned two days due to slippery conditions. His quarter-final against Sho Shimabukuro was also delayed to Saturday because of poor visibility and darkness. After these matches concluded, Shelton was able to spend time with Rodman.
Shelton shared his delight on Instagram, highlighting Rodman's remarkable energy after her 12-hour flight. This surprise visit follows a similar gesture at last year's U.S. Open, where Rodman also made a significant effort to support Shelton, flying in shortly after playing for the Washington Spirit.
Ben Shelton and Trinity Rodman publicly confirmed their relationship last year after a period of social media interaction. Shelton is scheduled to play Jiri Lehecka in the semi-finals on Saturday.
