Penn State defensive end Chaz Coleman has entered the transfer portal, quickly ascending to the No. 1 overall prospect ranking for 2025. The highly-touted player, originally from Ohio, is now reportedly a target for his home-state program, Ohio State, a former rival suitor.
Coleman, a promising edge rusher, saw significant playing time as a true freshman at Penn State. His performance included 8 stops, 3 tackles for loss, 1 sack, a forced fumble, and two fumble recoveries. His early production has made him the top-ranked player in the portal, with scouts praising his dynamic pass-rushing abilities.
The NCAA transfer portal officially opens on January 2, 2026, with a condensed 15-day window. Coleman's anticipated seven-figure transfer package underscores his high value. The transfer portal operates as a private database managed by compliance offices, allowing schools to contact players once they enter their names.
