Summary
- Top 2027 defensive lineman Jalen Brewster is being pursued by multiple programs.
- Brewster committed to Texas Tech on October 4, 2025.
- Indiana, Florida, and SMU are actively trying to flip Brewster's commitment.

The competition for top prospects in the 2027 college football recruiting class has intensified. Jalen Brewster, a five-star defensive lineman from Cedar Hill, Texas, committed to Texas Tech on October 4, 2025. Ranked as the No. 1 defensive lineman and the overall No. 1 prospect in the 2027 class by Rivals, Brewster is now a significant target for several other prominent programs.
Indiana, the reigning national champions, is actively working to flip Brewster's commitment. The Hoosiers, who offered him a scholarship in May 2025, hosted him for an official visit on April 24. If successful, Brewster would become Indiana's first five-star commit, significantly boosting their high school recruiting efforts.
Florida is also making a strong push for Brewster, having extended an offer in May 2025. Despite a coaching change, Brewster visited the Gators in early March, and their defensive line coach visited him in late April. SMU, located closest to Brewster's hometown, has also hosted him on multiple visits, with the latest being an official visit on Friday. Securing Brewster would be a major win for SMU as they aim for power conference status.
