As of August 9th, 2025, Roman Igwebuike, a highly touted linebacker in the Class of 2027, is preparing for a packed schedule of official visits to top college programs. The 6-foot-3, 220-pound rising junior at Mt. Carmel High School outside of Chicago is regarded as one of the best linebackers in his class, ranking as the No. 8 linebacker and No. 7 player in Illinois according to 247Sports.
Igwebuike has already received 37 scholarship offers, including nine from SEC schools. He is set to visit Tennessee, Georgia, and LSU during the upcoming fall season. Other schools that have offered the standout sophomore include Texas, Missouri, Vanderbilt, Ole Miss, Arkansas, Kentucky, and Mississippi State.
In addition to the SEC schools, Igwebuike's planned visit itinerary includes stops at Miami, Florida, USC, Indiana, Ohio State, and Illinois. This busy schedule reflects the high level of interest Igwebuike has generated from top college football programs across the country.
Last season, Igwebuike played a key role in leading Mt. Carmel to the Class 7A state championship, the third consecutive title for the school. As a sophomore, he recorded 90 tackles, 11 tackles for loss, 5 sacks, and a forced fumble, showcasing his impressive all-around skills on the defensive side of the ball.
