The Arizona Diamondbacks will be without rookie outfielder Tommy Troy as the team heads into the second half of the season. The first-round pick from the 2023 Draft has landed on the 10-day injured list for the first time in his career with a sprained right AC joint. The move is retroactive to Sunday.
Troy suffered the injury last Saturday at Dodger Stadium while attempting to make a catch. He collided with the outfield wall, sustaining a sprained right AC joint. Despite being able to make the throw, he immediately showed signs of pain and required medical attention.
Since being promoted on May 23, Troy, who was the D-backs' No. 4 prospect, has played in 39 games. He has recorded a slash line of .223/.299/.364, with four home runs, nine RBIs, and has started games in both left and center field.
In a separate move, the Diamondbacks also outrighted first baseman Pavin Smith to Triple-A Reno after he cleared waivers.
