Tommy Lloyd, renowned for his record-breaking start to his coaching career, is reportedly a prime candidate for the vacant North Carolina head coaching position. The Tar Heels are seeking a new leader after dismissing Hubert Davis, who despite reaching a national championship game, failed to make the tournament in recent seasons. Lloyd, however, has publicly committed to his current role at the University of Arizona.

During a press conference ahead of Arizona's Sweet 16 game, Lloyd stressed his unwavering focus on the Wildcats' present tournament aspirations. He described his current position as "one of the best jobs in the country" and stated his complete dedication to the program. Lloyd aims to guide Arizona to its first Final Four appearance since 2001, prioritizing the team's immediate goals over external rumors.

North Carolina, a storied program with four national titles, is reportedly considering candidates outside its traditional coaching lineage for the first time in over six decades. Many of the mentioned candidates are no longer in contention for the NCAA tournament, unlike Lloyd's Wildcats.
