Lions WR Tom Kennedy Out for Season After Knee Surgery
13 Oct
Summary
- Tom Kennedy's knee sprain requires season-ending surgery.
- Devin White will undergo surgery but is expected to return.
- Cade Mays' return plan remains undecided as he practices.

Detroit Lions wide receiver and return specialist Tom Kennedy will miss the remainder of the season due to a severe knee sprain that requires surgery. Coach Dan Campbell announced the unfortunate update on Monday, October 12, confirming Kennedy's season is over.
Kennedy suffered the injury in the second quarter of the Lions' recent game against the Arizona Cardinals while returning a punt. The injury occurred when his right leg was awkwardly bent during a tackle. Amon-Ra St. Brown has taken over as the primary punt returner, though Campbell expressed a preference for St. Brown not to handle the role full-time.
Linebacker Devin White will also undergo surgery for a broken forearm sustained during the same game. However, Campbell indicated that White is expected to make a return to the field at some point later in the season, though it will be some time.
The team is still evaluating their plan for Cade Mays, a significant offseason acquisition who returned to practice on October 7 after a training camp wrist injury. Mays remains on injured reserve as the coaching staff determines the best course for his return, considering his position at center and the current performance of Juice Scruggs.
