Tiruchi Sports Centre Nears Grand Opening

Work on the new sports centre at Anna Nagar in Tiruchi is progressing rapidly and is expected to be ready for public use within a month. The Tiruchi Corporation initiated this project on a 2.3-acre civic body land in response to resident demands, with an investment of ₹5.51 crore from State Finance Commission Grant and Corporation Funds. Construction began in January 2025, and approximately 90% of the work is now finished.

The sports complex will offer a range of facilities, including two indoor badminton courts, two tennis courts, and an enhanced gym with a separate area for women. While a swimming pool was initially proposed, it was later dropped, with a focus instead on expanding gym equipment and introducing table tennis and billiards. Modern civic amenities such as a kitchen-cum-dining hall, administrative block, changing rooms, and CCTV surveillance are also included.
