Team India is determined to achieve a clean sweep, targeting a 5-0 victory in their T20I series against New Zealand. Vice-captain Tilak Varma stated that the team is not easing up and sees this as a significant opportunity to set high standards for future squads.
Varma, who has a remarkable record of 12 unbeaten T20I knocks resulting in wins, discussed his role as a finisher. He explained his strategy of assessing boundary opportunities and focusing on singles and doubles to take the game deep.
He also shared his perspective on the death overs, noting that bowlers often feel more pressure than batters. This belief helps him approach the final moments of the game with confidence, anticipating that pressure can lead to errors.
The team's ambitious goal is to maintain this momentum, as emphasized by head coach Gautam Gambhir in team meetings, to positively influence the upcoming ODI and Test series. This series win marks India's third since securing the T20 World Cup title earlier in 2026.
