Tilak Varma, the T20I vice-captain for India, is slated to play for the India A team in an upcoming four-day red-ball match against New Zealand A. This significant development will see the left-handed batter from Hyderabad participate in the third unofficial Test scheduled for next week in Lincoln.

Following his commitment with India A, Varma will then join the senior ODI squad. He is expected to be available for the last two matches of the ODI series. This strategic inclusion reportedly aims to fill the void left by the absence of regular players Shubman Gill and KL Rahul. Varma currently serves as the deputy to Shreyas Iyer in the T20I setup.
