10 Apr
Summary
- Nuwan Thushara apologized via email to Sri Lanka Cricket for inconveniencing the board.
- He filed a case seeking an order directing Sri Lanka Cricket to issue a No Objection Certificate.
- The court set the next hearing for his case for April 23, 2026.

Sri Lankan cricketer Nuwan Thushara has extended an apology to Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) and may withdraw his legal challenge. Thushara had taken the cricket board to court after being denied a No Objection Certificate (NOC) for participation in the Indian Premier League (IPL).
In an email communication to SLC, the 31-year-old pacer expressed that his intention was not to cause inconvenience but to seek fairness. This development follows SLC informing the District Court in Colombo of their intent to file objections against Thushara's petition. The court had previously allowed SLC's plea regarding the matter.
Thushara, who has 30 T20 international appearances, was seeking an order to compel SLC to issue the NOC, having been denied due to failed fitness tests. He was expected to play for Royal Challengers Bengaluru in the IPL this season. The court has scheduled the next hearing for April 23, 2026.
