Summary
- Oklahoma City Thunder trade Aaron Wiggins to Atlanta Hawks.
- Thunder receive two future second-round draft picks.
- Trade clears roster spot and sheds salary for OKC.

The Oklahoma City Thunder have agreed to trade guard Aaron Wiggins to the Atlanta Hawks in exchange for two future second-round draft picks. This transaction, confirmed on Sunday, includes Atlanta's 2030 second-round selection and the less favorable of the Hawks/Lakers pick in 2032. The Thunder benefit by clearing a roster spot, shedding salary, and potentially reducing their luxury tax penalty ahead of the NBA Draft. Wiggins, originally the 55th overall pick in 2021, emerged as a valuable bench scorer for OKC.
With the emergence of younger guards on the Thunder roster, Wiggins' playing time diminished, averaging just 4.5 minutes in recent playoff games. This trade brings additional bench firepower to the Atlanta Hawks, who are undergoing a strategic shift. Wiggins is under contract for just over $9 million next season on a declining deal with three years remaining. Atlanta will utilize an $11 million trade exception from the Luke Kennard trade to absorb Wiggins' contract. The deal is expected to finalize after the NBA's free-agency moratorium ends on July 6. The futures of Buddy Hield and Jonathan Kuminga with the Hawks are now under consideration.
