Full Strength Thunder Eye Nuggets in Home Opener

The Oklahoma City Thunder commenced their 2026-27 campaign with a commanding 116-104 road win against the San Antonio Spurs on Tuesday night. This victory is particularly significant as the Thunder were not at full strength for much of the previous season, indicating their increased threat level when healthy.

Following their opening night success, the Thunder are set to play their home opener on Thursday night at Paycom Center. Their opponent will be the Denver Nuggets, a familiar division rival with whom they had intense matchups last season. Despite facing the Nuggets without a complete lineup in their previous encounters, Oklahoma City managed to win the season series 3-1, highlighting their resilience.

This season, the Thunder aim to showcase their true capabilities with a full roster. Last year's games against Denver often saw key players like Jalen Williams, Jaylin Williams, and Shai Gilgeous-Alexander sidelined or managing injuries, yet the team still found ways to win. With Nikola Jokic leading the Nuggets, the upcoming matchup is anticipated to be a high-stakes contest, offering the Thunder a prime opportunity to prove they are a tier above Denver and start the season with a 2-0 record.
