Summary

Thekla is now the number one contender for the women's world championship.
Willow Nightingale's injury played a role in Thekla's victory.
Thekla will face Mercedes Moné at WrestleDream for the title.

Thekla has re-entered the championship picture, emerging as the number one contender for the AEW Women's World Championship. She achieved this by defeating Willow Nightingale, who was visibly hampered by a pre-existing hand injury. Thekla capitalized on Nightingale's condition, securing the victory and her shot at the title.

This victory positions Thekla for a championship match against Mercedes Moné at the upcoming WrestleDream event. Both competitors have significantly impacted the women's division this year. Thekla previously held the title for 165 days before Nightingale's victory in July, which was a brief reign. Moné then won the championship from Nightingale after returning from a hiatus and winning the Owen Hart Foundation Women's Tournament.
