Texas Hosts Ex-Coach Beard in SEC Showdown

Texas will host Ole Miss in a Southeastern Conference game on Saturday afternoon in Austin, Texas. The Longhorns, with a 14-9 overall record and 5-5 in conference play, enter the contest having won two consecutive games and three of their last four. Their most recent victory was an 84-75 home win against South Carolina, where Dailyn Swain led the team with 22 points and 10 rebounds. Tramon Mark contributed 18 points, and Camden Heide added 12 points for Texas.

This game will be the first return to Austin for Ole Miss coach Chris Beard, who was fired from his Texas coaching position in January 2023 following a domestic violence charge. Beard is currently focused on improving his Ole Miss team, which holds an 11-11 overall record and a 3-6 conference standing. The Rebels have dropped their last four games, including an 84-66 loss to Tennessee on Tuesday. In that game, Beard was ejected with 6:15 remaining and voiced his frustration regarding officiating and foul differentials.
