Summary
- Two quarterbacks will share snaps in a critical Big 12 championship race game.
- Coach McGuire admits regret over not playing Castellanos in the last game.
- Running back Cameron Dickey is expected to return from injury.
Quarterbacks Thomas Castellanos and Will Hammond are slated to see substantial playing time for No. 13 Texas Tech as they host No. 22 Arizona. This matchup holds significant weight for the Big 12 championship race. Coach Joey McGuire stated he regretted not giving Castellanos, a fifth-year senior, more snaps in the team's recent 37-24 loss to Cincinnati.
Hammond threw for 227 yards with two turnovers in the previous game, while Texas Tech's offense struggled. The Red Raiders are also expecting the return of running back Cameron Dickey, who missed two games with a high-ankle sprain and has accumulated 242 rushing yards and four touchdowns this season. Castellanos, a veteran with 33 career starts, rejoined the team after a legal battle over his eligibility.
