Texas A&M targets top CB John Meredith

Texas A&M's football program, under head coach Mike Elko, is making significant strides in the 2027 recruiting cycle, having already secured ten commitments. The coaching staff is also a finalist to land John Meredith, widely considered the No. 1 cornerback in the class, in a highly competitive recruitment against Alabama.

Meredith's potential commitment would create an exceptionally strong cornerback group for the Aggies, building on the existing talent and commitments like four-star cornerback Raylaun Henry. The team's defensive backfield is expected to be loaded heading into the 2026 season. Meredith, currently ranked as the No. 1 overall prospect in Texas by 247Sports Composite, has been impressing at various offseason camps with his elite change-of-direction skills and 6'2" frame.

The recruitment battle for Meredith is anticipated to come down to Texas A&M and Alabama as the spring football season approaches. Meredith is scheduled to visit College Station twice in the coming months. This strong recruiting push by Elko's staff follows an improved defensive showing in the 2025 season, though the secondary experienced some transfers after a late-season loss.
