Summary
- Zaire Mitchell-Paden, a 6-5, 257-pound tight end, joins the Texans.
- He has previous NFL experience with the Ravens and Browns.
- The Texans recently parted ways with several other tight ends.

The Houston Texans have added a new playmaker to their offensive arsenal with the signing of tight end Zaire Mitchell-Paden. This move bolsters the team's depth at a position that has been impacted by injuries.
Mitchell-Paden, a fifth-year veteran, brings a physical presence at 6-foot-5 and 257 pounds. He has previously played for both the Baltimore Ravens and the Cleveland Browns, and was most recently with the New Orleans Saints. His NFL career includes eight games played and one start, with two receptions for 17 yards.
The Texans' decision to bring in Mitchell-Paden comes after they parted ways with several other tight ends, including Brevin Jordan, Layne Pryor, and Luke Lachey. Jordan, a former draft pick, had started 12 of his 36 appearances for the team but was sidelined by injuries.
With starting tight end Dalton Schultz and top backups Foster Moreau and Marlin Klein also on the roster, Mitchell-Paden's immediate role may be to provide necessary depth. The team hopes this effort to strengthen the tight end room will prove beneficial, especially after facing challenges at the position during the 2025 season, including Schultz's injury in a playoff loss.
