Texans RB Mixon's Injury: A 'Freak' Medical Mystery

Texans General Manager Nick Caserio recently addressed the mysterious foot injury that sidelined running back Joe Mixon for the entire 2025 season. Caserio characterized the injury as a "freak" medical situation that did not improve as anticipated.

Mixon, a Pro Bowl selection in 2024, sustained the injury away from the facility during the offseason. While the team was largely tight-lipped about the specifics of his recovery throughout the season, Caserio clarified that it was not due to irresponsible behavior.

He elaborated that the condition "never really didn't improve maybe as much as everybody would have hoped." The Texans offense clearly missed Mixon's contributions, with rookie Woody Marks and veteran Nick Chubb carrying the load. Mixon has one year remaining on his contract, and his status for the upcoming season remains uncertain.

Caserio emphasized that clarity on Mixon's condition is still lacking and that the team is awaiting further information from medical experts. The general manager stated, "We'll see. Believe me, I'm not smart enough to be a doctor so I'm going to leave that up to the medical experts."
