Boy, 14, Tragically Dies From Football Chest Hit

A tragic incident occurred on Tuesday, June 16, when 14-year-old Benjamín Valentín Donofrio collapsed during a football game. He was hit by a powerful shot to the chest and abdomen, causing him to fall in severe pain.

Although Donofrio briefly got back on his feet, he collapsed again shortly after. Emergency medical services were called, and he was transported to a health center. During the ambulance journey, he suffered a cardiorespiratory arrest.

Despite resuscitation efforts at the hospital, medical staff were unable to save the teenager's life. Authorities are now investigating the death, with commotio cordis—a rare phenomenon where chest impacts disrupt heart rhythm—being considered as a possible factor.

Donofrio's club, Club Atlético Sarmiento de La Banda, expressed deep sorrow over his passing, extending condolences to his family and remembering him as a cherished youth player.
