Summary
- Team GB athletes are provided with 130kg of oats and 5,050 teabags.
- Athletes have access to a Formula One simulator for training.
- The Olympic Village rooms are enhanced with entertainment and comfort items.
Team GB's contingent for the Winter Olympics has established a well-equipped base in Milan's Olympic Village, aiming to provide a comfortable environment for its 55 athletes.
Rare access revealed that athletes are supplied with substantial provisions, including 130kg of Quaker porridge oats and 5,050 Aldi teabags, alongside recreational items like jigsaws, Connect 4, and large televisions. Unique training aids, such as a Formula One simulator, are also available.
This year's catering has reportedly been excellent, with athletes enjoying a variety of options, including ample meat, a contrast to previous Games. The team's deputy chef de mission highlighted efforts to make the athletes' accommodations feel like home, despite the compact living spaces.
While the village offers communal facilities like a gym and game rooms, hygiene is paramount, with signs reminding athletes of strict protocols to prevent germ transmission. This more relaxed approach contrasts with the stringent Covid-19 measures in place during the Beijing Winter Games.
