Saints Countdown: Remembering Taysom Hill's unique journey

Seven days before the New Orleans Saints' 2026 season kicks off on September 13th, the team's countdown series looks back at the career of Taysom Hill. Hill, who turns 36, spent nine NFL seasons with the Saints after going undrafted in 2017. His remarkable versatility saw him play tight end, quarterback, running back, and wide receiver.

Hill's journey began at Brigham Young University, where he displayed dual-threat quarterback abilities despite injuries. Signed by the Packers initially, the Saints quickly acquired him. By 2018, coach Sean Payton began deploying Hill in unique offensive packages, leveraging his speed and physicality.

Over his Saints tenure, Hill accumulated 2,437 rushing yards and 33 touchdowns. He also caught 99 passes for 943 yards and 11 scores. As a starting quarterback, he held a 7-2 record, completing 63.3% of his passes for 2,426 yards. He was also a consistent special teams contributor.

Officially listed as a tight end late in his career, mounting injuries eventually affected his performance. While he did not officially retire after the 2025 season, his final home game was an emotional tribute. Hill's passion, physicality, and adaptability made him a fan favorite, ensuring his future place in the Saints Hall of Fame.
