Syracuse freshman Calvin Russell III is poised to make his debut for the Orange football team. Coach Fran Brown announced that Russell is expected to play against UConn on October 3rd. Russell, a talented wide receiver, had been recovering from a torn Achilles tendon injury he suffered during spring practice in late March.
Ranked as ESPN's highest-rated football recruit in Syracuse history, the 6-foot-6, 190-pound athlete committed to the Orange in July 2025 over offers from Miami and Michigan. Russell also spent time on the Syracuse basketball roster, appearing in one game during the 2025-26 season and participating in the team's ACC tournament run.
