Steelers Join Hunt for Ejiro Evero's Coaching Talent
15 Jan
Summary
- Evero is a candidate for head coach with the Pittsburgh Steelers.
- Two other teams, Atlanta and Las Vegas, also want to interview Evero.
- Evero's contract was extended before the 2025 campaign.

The Pittsburgh Steelers have reportedly entered the race to interview Carolina Panthers defensive coordinator Ejiro Evero for their vacant head coaching position. This development signifies that Evero is now a candidate for at least three NFL head coaching jobs, with the Atlanta Falcons and Las Vegas Raiders having also expressed interest. The Steelers are seeking a new leader, as Mike Tomlin resigned on Tuesday after a long tenure.
Evero's standing in the league is bolstered by a contract extension he received before the 2025 season. Carolina's President of Football Operations, Dan Morgan, praised Evero's work ethic, intelligence, and ability to develop players, highlighting these qualities as reasons for the extension despite the team's challenging 2024 performance. The Panthers' defense ranked 16th in total yards allowed (327.2 per game) and 15th in points allowed (22.4 per game) last season.
