Star Defender Micah Parsons Considers Leaving Dallas Cowboys
3 Aug
Summary
- Micah Parsons considering trade or severing ties with Cowboys
- Negotiations with Cowboys stalled, no active discussions
- Parsons frustrated by team's handling of contract negotiations

As of August 3rd, 2025, star linebacker Micah Parsons' future with the Dallas Cowboys is in jeopardy. Parsons, who is entering his fifth year in the NFL, has reportedly made up his mind on potential measures to ensure he receives the right treatment, either in Dallas or elsewhere.
According to NFL insider Dianna Russini, Parsons is considering requesting a trade or declaring that he is severing his relationship with the Cowboys. The two parties are currently far apart in their contract negotiations, and no active discussions are taking place.
Parsons, one of the best pass rushers in the league, has recorded impressive stats during his four-year career with the Cowboys, including 256 tackles, 52.5 sacks, nine forced fumbles, and four fumble recoveries. However, the lack of progress in contract talks has left the player frustrated with the team's handling of the negotiations.
The situation has escalated since April, when Cowboys owner Jerry Jones dismissed Parsons' agent's participation in the negotiations, stating that he "didn't concern him." This did not sit well with the player, and the tensions have only grown in the months since.
With the 2025 season fast approaching, Parsons' future with the Cowboys remains uncertain. The team's depth chart behind him includes Marshawn Kneeland, Sam Williams, and Tyrus Wheat, but it's unclear if they can adequately replace the star defender if he were to be traded or released.
