Cunningham herself is experiencing a strong 2026 season, averaging 9.1 points, 2.4 rebounds, and 1.4 assists through 21 games. This follows a season-ending torn right MCL injury sustained in August 2025, which limited her to 30 games in her first year with the Fever.
When asked about attending the jersey retirement, Cunningham humorously suggested she might be playing but would attend if her mother wished. Taurasi, who retired after the 2024 season, concluded a storied career as the WNBA's all-time leading scorer, a three-time champion, and a multi-time MVP.
