Summary
- Snow Marathon League promotes adventure sports and conservation in the Himalayas.
- The league includes a snow dog race and a snow ultra in Lahaul.
- Future events include a Snow Marathon Kashmir in Gulmarg in 2027.

A new initiative, the Snow Marathon League (SMLg), has been launched in India to promote adventure sports while championing environmental conservation and animal welfare in the Himalayas. This league builds upon the success of the Snow Marathon in Lahaul, which has completed four editions.
The SMLg aims to foster collaboration between mountain communities, adventure seekers, and environmental advocates. It emphasizes responsible interaction with the delicate Himalayan ecosystem.
Key events under the league include the SnowTails Fest, scheduled for March 20-22, 2026, in Lahaul. This festival features the world's highest snow dog race.
Additionally, the league will introduce the world's highest Snow Ultra and a Snow Walkathon. These events are designed to engage a broader audience in supporting critical causes like solid waste management and animal welfare.
Looking ahead, the organizers have announced the first Snow Marathon Kashmir, set to take place in Gulmarg on February 14, 2027. The Indian Institute of Skiing & Mountaineering will serve as the technical partner for this event.
