Sri Lanka's Batting Woes: Must-Win vs. New Zealand

Sri Lanka must secure a victory against New Zealand in their T20 World Cup 2026 Super 8 clash on Wednesday. The encounter is scheduled to take place at the R. Premadasa Stadium in Colombo. The home team's batting lineup has faced significant challenges on the slower pitches prevalent in Sri Lanka, which offer more turn and grip compared to those in co-host India. This has limited their ability to score freely.

In their previous fixture, Sri Lanka struggled to chase a modest target of 147 against England, ultimately losing by 51 runs. New Zealand, on the other hand, has yet to complete a match in the Super 8 stage. Their opening game against Pakistan was abandoned due to rain at the same venue. The match will be televised live on the Star Sports network and live-streamed on the JioHotstar app and website.
