Skye Blakely Chases Biles' Record at Gymnastics Worlds

Skye Blakely has an opportunity to achieve a remarkable feat in the world gymnastics championships, potentially winning five medals. She has already secured four medals, including a gold in the all-around, bronzes on vault and uneven bars, and a silver with the U.S. women's team. Blakely will compete in the balance beam final today, Sunday, October 25th, with a chance to join Simone Biles as the only American gymnasts to win at least five medals at a single championship event. Biles accomplished this in 2018 by winning six medals.

In other American competitions, Claire Pease is seeking her third medal. She will compete alongside Reese Esponda in the floor exercise final. Pease has already earned silver medals in the team competition and on vault. The U.S. men's team does not have any athletes competing in the event finals scheduled for today, which include vault, parallel bars, and high bar.
