Shaq Roars: Enough Bullying of WNBA Stars!

NBA legend Shaquille O'Neal has publicly voiced his strong disapproval of online harassment directed at WNBA players, with a particular focus on Angel Reese and Lauren Betts. O'Neal, who holds the position of president at the Reebok basketball brand, expressed his frustration during a recent appearance on the "Rich Eisen Show." He conveyed a desire to confront individuals who relentlessly criticize and bully female athletes online.

O'Neal highlighted the concerning trend of "amateurs" in sports media contributing to a culture of online abuse, noting that their motivation appears to be gaining followers through sensational and often untrue statements. He emphasized that while male-on-male bullying might be one thing, he cannot tolerate bullying of women simply for online engagement. Both Reese and Betts are associated with Reebok, and O'Neal has been a vocal supporter of Reese since her college days at LSU.

Reese has previously described O'Neal as a "father-figure" during her time at LSU, especially during periods of controversy. Currently, Reese is averaging 13.1 points and 11 rebounds for the Dream in her debut season. Betts, also in her rookie year, is contributing 5.1 points and 2.7 rebounds. O'Neal affirmed his support, stating he stays out of their way as they focus on their games and are available should they need his assistance.
