Ramos Leads New Sevilla Takeover Bid
2 Jan
Summary
- Sergio Ramos is heading his own consortium for Sevilla.
- A rival bid from American investors has dropped significantly.
- Ramos previously played 16 seasons for Real Madrid.

Sergio Ramos, the decorated Spanish footballer, is now at the forefront of a new bid to take over his former club, Sevilla. Having recently concluded an 18-month stint with Monterrey in Mexico, Ramos has emerged as the leading figure for a consortium making the highest offer for the club. This development follows the withdrawal of an earlier offer from an American investment group, which had initially proposed a takeover but reduced their bid substantially after a review.
Ramos, who boasts a storied career including 16 years at Real Madrid and 101 goals in 671 appearances, returned to Sevilla in 2023 after a spell with Paris Saint-Germain. His return to his boyhood club was brief, concluding after just one season. Now a free agent, the World Cup winner appears poised to transition from player to club owner, aiming to lead a new era for the Andalusian side.
The previous potential deal, led by Antonio Lappi and Fede Quintero, saw their offer per share drop from €3,400 to €2,700, ultimately causing discussions to collapse. This paved the way for Ramos's consortium to step in. While initially rumored to be interested in a minority investment, reports now confirm Ramos is leading his own group, with his name and image backing the project.
