SEC Playoff Contenders Face Crucial Matchups in Week 12
14 Nov
Summary
- 7 SEC teams in College Football Playoff hunt
- Alabama, Texas A&M, Georgia, and Ole Miss have 1 loss or less
- Matchups between Alabama-Oklahoma and Texas-Georgia will shape SEC race

As the 2025 college football season reaches Week 12, the Southeastern Conference (SEC) finds itself with seven teams firmly in the College Football Playoff hunt. No. 3 Texas A&M and No. 4 Alabama remain unbeaten in conference play, while No. 5 Georgia and No. 7 Ole Miss each have just one loss. Additionally, No. 10 Texas, No. 11 Oklahoma, and No. 14 Vanderbilt all have two losses.
This Saturday, known as "Separation Saturday," will feature two key matchups that will help clarify the SEC picture. The Crimson Tide will host the Sooners at 3:30 p.m. ET, while the Longhorns will face the Bulldogs at 7:30 p.m. ET in a rematch of last year's SEC championship game.
Texas A&M currently controls its own destiny, but a loss to either South Carolina or Texas would seriously jeopardize their SEC championship game hopes due to their weaker cumulative conference winning percentage. Alabama, on the other hand, can eliminate Oklahoma from SEC contention with a victory this weekend. Georgia, meanwhile, will be looking to secure their spot in the SEC title game with a win over Texas.
The Rebels of Ole Miss need to win their final two games, and they have a stronger cumulative conference winning percentage than the Aggies. However, they will need some help from other teams to secure a spot in the SEC championship game.
