Seattle's Soccer Fans March in European Style

Thousands of U.S. soccer enthusiasts recently adopted a European tradition, participating in a spirited march through Seattle. This large-scale, traffic-disrupting rally occurred before the match against Australia. Such pregame festivities are common in many parts of the world and on some American college campuses, but Seattle's urban stadium location facilitates their growth.

Fans gathered for a morning of energetic celebration, complete with alcohol, caffeine, chants, and drumming, culminating in a walk to Lumen Field. Attendees included creatively costumed individuals and a contingent of Buffalo Soldiers on horseback, commemorating Juneteenth. The air was filled with the scents of beer, sunscreen, and anticipation.

Meanwhile, Australian supporters also conducted their own march from a nearby pub. Dressed in yellow jerseys and carrying flags and inflatable kangaroos, they engaged in chants aimed at motivating their team and playfully challenging the host nation, adding a competitive spirit to the day's events.
