Laughton contributed 12 points, including eight goals and four assists, in 43 games for the Maple Leafs during this season. The 31-year-old forward is completing a five-year contract and is eligible to become an unrestricted free agent on July 1. He was originally selected by the Philadelphia Flyers in the first round of the 2012 NHL Draft.
The Kings, currently sixth in the Pacific Division, are three points behind the Seattle Kraken for a wild card spot. The Maple Leafs, seventh in the Atlantic Division, trail the Boston Bruins by eight points for the final wild card position.
