Scott Haffner, formerly of the Illinois basketball team, began his NBA career after being selected by the Miami Heat in the 1989 NBA Draft. He was the 45th overall pick and participated in 43 games during his rookie season, including six starts for the Heat.
Following his initial NBA campaign, Haffner was waived by Miami. He later received another opportunity in the league with the Charlotte Hornets during the 1990-91 season, signing a 10-day contract. In his seven appearances for Charlotte, Haffner averaged 2.4 points, 1.3 assists, and 0.6 rebounds per game. His NBA journey concluded with a stint in the Continental Basketball Association (CBA) playing for the Quad City Thunder.
