The Newcastle rugby union community is devastated by the sudden passing of Sam Morgan, aged 29. Morgan, a father and partner, tragically succumbed to a rare and aggressive form of streptococcal pneumonia, a bacterial infection affecting approximately three in 100,000 Australians with a low survival rate.
His fiancee, Chloe Mills, described Morgan as a genuine and giving person deeply involved in the rugby world. Despite rapid medical intervention, including life support machines and CPR, Morgan's condition deteriorated quickly, leading to organ failure and cardiac arrest.
Morgan leaves behind his fiancee Chloe and their 22-month-old son, Rome. A GoFundMe page has been created by his sister to support his young family and help Chloe keep the family home that Sam built.
