In a remarkable debut season, FC Red Bull Salzburg's women's team has earned a coveted spot in the championship group of the ADMIRAL Women's Bundesliga. After concluding the initial phase in fourth place, the squad is set to compete in a series of home and away matches from April 25-26 to May 30-31. This performance offers them an outside chance to secure one of the three available European Cup starting places, a significant achievement for the club's inaugural year.
The team's journey has been marked by the exceptional talent and energy of its young players. Despite the absence of 17-year-old Sara Grabovac due to injury, 16-year-old Valentina Lutz proved instrumental in a recent 3-1 away victory, helping the team secure crucial points. This display of youthful prowess has been lauded by sporting director Bernd Winkler, highlighting the club's strong investment in emerging talent.
Before the league play pauses for international fixtures and heads into its decisive phase, FC Red Bull Salzburg's women have another significant challenge. They are set to face LASK this Saturday at the Red Bull Football Academy for a place in the Austrian Women's Cup final. Admission to this match is free, offering fans an opportunity to support the team in their quest for domestic cup glory.
