- Technology offers a holistic view, predicting stress and fatigue.
- Borussia Dortmund extends multi-year deal with the innovator.

An Austrian startup, Biolyz, has introduced a groundbreaking approach to athlete health monitoring, utilizing a mobile laboratory to analyze saliva for a wide array of biomarkers. This innovative technology, developed by medicinal chemist Marlon Millard, aims to provide a cheaper, faster, and more comprehensive alternative to traditional blood testing.
By analyzing around 125 biomarkers including metabolites, lipids, and proteins, Biolyz creates personalized health profiles for athletes. This data, combined with AI algorithms and contextual information, offers a daily 'biological fingerprint' to predict physiological and psychological stress, pain, inflammation, and fatigue, significantly aiding in injury prediction.
Borussia Dortmund has embraced this innovation, extending its multi-year agreement with Biolyz after a successful initial trial. The club reports a significant reduction in injuries and improved player management, signaling a major advancement in sports science with potential applications beyond football.
