The Egyptian Football Association (EFA) has officially stated that star player Mohamed Salah played no part in the recent dismissal of head coach Hossam Hassan. EFA board member Mostafa Abu Zahra clarified that the decision was solely made by the association's board.
Abu Zahra emphasized that players, including the captain, do not possess the authority to influence technical or administrative decisions within the EFA. He described Salah as an exceptional leader and denied any inaccuracies in reports about the captain's interactions.
Contrary to some leaks, Abu Zahra confirmed that EFA president Hany Abo Rida's trip to Turkey was for an official invitation, not to mediate a dispute with Salah. He also praised Salah's respectful conduct towards Hassan.
Ali Maher has been appointed as the new head coach, succeeding Hassan. Maher's immediate task will be to select the squad for the upcoming Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers.
