Salah Benched: Allardyce Backs Slot's Bold Liverpool Call

Former Premier League manager Sam Allardyce has voiced his support for Arne Slot's decision to bench Liverpool's star player, Mohamed Salah, for their recent match against Paris Saint-Germain. This strategic move occurred despite the team's subsequent defeat in Paris.

Allardyce believes Salah's effectiveness in front of goal has diminished, presenting a significant challenge for the Reds. The Egyptian forward has faced unusual scrutiny this season due to a dip in his usual high-scoring form.

Salah has only managed to score 10 goals in 35 appearances across all competitions this season. This statistic has fueled a debate about his continued status as an undisputed starter for Liverpool.

Slot's choice to drop Salah for the Champions League quarter-final first leg clash against PSG resulted in a 2-0 loss for Liverpool. This situation raises further questions about the future role of the player, who is expected to depart the club at the end of the summer.
