Sabres Eye Rangers D-man Schneider for Roster Boost

Following an excellent 2025-26 season, the Buffalo Sabres are preparing to upgrade their roster during the off-season. One identified area for improvement is acquiring an impactful right-shot defenseman.

Braden Schneider, currently a defenseman for the New York Rangers, has been identified as a player who could be a strong fit for the Sabres. Questions surrounding Schneider's future with the Rangers have surfaced as the team undergoes a retooling phase. As a pending restricted free agent, his availability this summer presents an opportunity.

If made available via trade, Schneider could solidify the Sabres' bottom pairing and penalty kill. His potential for growth also suggests he could contend for top-four minutes after a potential move to Buffalo. At 24 years old, the former first-round pick still has room for development.
