Rugby Star's Final Games for MND Milestone
27 Aug
Summary
- Player diagnosed with MND will play final two games.
- Special dispensation granted for club milestone of 100 matches.
- NRL allows one-off rule changes for player's farewell.

A rugby league player diagnosed with motor neurone disease will be allowed to play the opening seconds of two forthcoming games to reach a 100-match milestone for his club. Jai Arrow of the South Sydney Rabbitohs received special dispensation from the National Rugby League (NRL) to participate in the team's final two regular season fixtures.
Arrow, who announced his retirement in May following his MND diagnosis, will lead the team out before leaving the field. The NRL has made a one-off exception to its rules, permitting the Rabbitohs to have an additional player for team lists and interchanges.
These matches will be against the Gold Coast Titans and the Sydney Roosters. Arrow has played 178 NRL games across his career, including 98 for the Rabbitohs since his 2021 debut. The club's CEO stated the decision will provide inspiration, showcasing that MND will not prevent individuals from achieving their goals.
