Summary
- Steelers cornerback Darius Rush waived by Browns before 53-man roster deadline
- Rush signed with Browns in August after being waived by Chiefs, played in preseason
- 25-year-old Rush was a 5th round pick by Colts in 2023 NFL Draft

In a move ahead of the 53-man roster deadline on Tuesday, the Cleveland Browns have waived former Pittsburgh Steelers cornerback Darius Rush. The 25-year-old Rush, who was a 5th round pick by the Indianapolis Colts in the 2023 NFL Draft, had signed with the Browns on August 11 after being waived from injured reserve by the Kansas City Chiefs with a settlement on August 8.
Rush suited up for Cleveland's final two preseason games, posting four tackles while logging 30 total snaps. However, the Browns have now decided to part ways with the young defensive back, who is now subject to waivers and would become a free agent should he go unclaimed.
Rush's NFL journey has hit a roadblock, as he looks to continue his professional career after a promising college career at the University of South Carolina. The cornerback played in all 12 games for the Gamecocks in 2019 and became a full-time starter in 2021, recording 25 tackles, eight passes defended, and an interception that season.
With the Browns' decision to waive Rush, the former 5th round pick now faces an uncertain future in the league as he searches for his next opportunity.
