Cristiano Ronaldo has been offered an opportunity to return to the Portuguese national team by coach Jorge Jesus. Jesus stated that if Ronaldo wishes to rejoin the squad for future matches, the door is open for him. This comes after Ronaldo walked out on the team last week. He left the squad after learning he would not be a starter in the match against Denmark, following being benched during Portugal's win against Norway.
Despite Ronaldo's absence, Portugal has successfully qualified for the Nations League quarter-finals, becoming the first team to do so with two group games remaining. Coach Jesus emphasized that the decision to return rests solely with Ronaldo, stating they had a conversation before the recent call-up and can talk again before the next matches in November if Ronaldo desires.
Ronaldo, Portugal's all-time leading scorer and most-capped player, has been a significant figure for over two decades. Jesus had previously expressed his need for Ronaldo's presence, whether on or off the field, during the initial games of his tenure. Ronaldo himself has suggested that this year might be his final year in professional football.
