U-19 Cricketer Banned for Age Fraud
3 Sep
Summary
- Bengal cricketer Rohit Yadav banned for two years by BCCI.
- Discrepancies found in Aadhaar records regarding date of birth.
- Multiple date of birth changes noted since 2014 registration.

India U-19 cricketer Rohit Yadav has been banned for two years by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) due to discrepancies in his age records. This decision comes just months after his inclusion in the junior national side, which had led him to represent India in Sri Lanka and secure a spot for the upcoming series against Australia.
The ban was imposed after an age-verification exercise uncovered multiple changes to Yadav's date of birth across various Aadhaar records. Initially registered with the Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB) in 2014 with a birth date of July 7, 2007, subsequent updates showed years of birth ranging from 2006 to 2009. The CAB brought these inconsistencies to the BCCI's attention earlier this year, leading to the immediate suspension.
The BCCI has informed all affiliated state units about the ban. A replacement is expected to be named for the India U-19 squad's series against Australia. Yadav, a leg-spinner, had earned his national call-up after impressing at the junior level and claiming six wickets in a Youth Test against Sri Lanka U-19.
