The Colorado Rockies have enhanced their outfield depth by acquiring Jake McCarthy from the Arizona Diamondbacks. In a trade confirmed on Saturday, January 10, 2026, the Rockies sent right-handed pitching prospect Josh Grosz to the Diamondbacks.
McCarthy, a versatile left-handed hitter, brings exceptional speed to the Rockies, consistently ranking in the 98th percentile or higher. His defensive capabilities extend to all three outfield positions, making him a valuable asset.
Despite a fluctuating performance history, including a tough 2025 season, McCarthy's speed and defensive flexibility offer significant upside for the Rockies' outfield, which already features players like Brenton Doyle and Jordan Beck.
