Rising Stars Musetti and Tien Headline 2025 China Open's Second Day
26 Sep, 2025
Summary
- Lorenzo Musetti in career-best season, reached Monte-Carlo final
- Learner Tien looking to build on recent deep runs on hardcourts
- Medvedev and Rublev face tough opponents in Norrie and Cobolli

As the 2025 China Open enters its second day, all eyes will be on the rising stars of men's tennis as they take to the court for their first-round matches. Leading the charge is Lorenzo Musetti, who is currently in the midst of a career-best season. Just last month, the Italian reached the final of the prestigious Monte-Carlo Masters, his biggest final to date.
However, Musetti will face a stern test in the form of the explosive Frenchman Giovanni Mpetshi Perricard. Perricard has been serving with tremendous power, firing down 33 aces in his two matches in Chengdu alone. Musetti will need to be patient and limit his unforced errors if he hopes to weather the storm and advance.
Elsewhere, American rising star Learner Tien will also be in action, looking to build on his recent deep runs on the hardcourt swing. Tien made the quarterfinals in Chengdu and has been solid on the surface this summer. He will take on the Argentinian Francisco Cerundolo, who has struggled to find his form on hardcourts since Wimbledon.
In other notable matches, former world No. 1 Daniil Medvedev will face a resurgent Cameron Norrie, while Andrey Rublev will square off against the latest entrant into the top-25, Flavio Cobolli. Both Medvedev and Rublev will be eager to bounce back after recent setbacks and make a deep run in Beijing.
